The Report Help Guide    Print

The spam report is an e-mail you receive that lists all of the messages rejected based on the settings you entered for the Marvin processes. You need to enter in a frequency setting as to how often you would like to receive the updated spam report. What we suggest is a gradual increase in the time as you become more comfortable with how Marvin is handling your spam.

The Report Screen

There are 4 checkboxes that determine the form that your report will take. If you check the HTML report, the e-mail you receive will be in HTML format. Otherwise the e-mail defaults to unformatted text. The report can be sorted any combination of three ways. Each sort will appear as an additional section of your report.

Next to the checkboxes is where you choose how frequently you wish to receive the report. Note, there is a 1 hour minimum.

Next to the frequency selection is an update button. By hitting this button, the frequency you entered will be updated as your new setting. A new report is sent to you when you click on this button, regardless of whether you have made changes to the time setting or not. So if you feel you have missed an e-mail and want to find out right away, log in and hit the update button on this page and you will be sent a report so you can look.

How to set up the Report

1. Click the link that says Report

2. Read the Report introduction ("Need Help?") to understand what the Report is and how to set the time.

3. Enter in the frequency you would like to receive the report.

4. For the first few days, set the time to 8 Hours. During the next few days, review the reports to make sure everything looks fine.

5. After those few days and everything looks fine, change the frequency to once a day and review the reports for a few days.

6. After another few days, change the number to 3 days and review the reports again.

7. Finally, after a couple of reports, change the frequency to once a week. You can keep it at that number or set it to be even higher if you desire.

8. Once you enter in the number of seconds, hit update and the changes will take effect.

9. A report is sent to you when you hit the Update button. Each time you hit the Update button, you will receive a new report immediately.

10. Click the Main Menu link to return to the Main Menu.
